Perimeter Plan

This project explores how choreographed manipulations to primary architectural elements produce novel form and rich architectural space. Embracing the constrained project brief of a 960 x 54 foot unrolled facade, a predetermined stair, a given floor area, and a set of allowable manipulations of the proposed building, challenges the building’s stacked floor plate. This acts to redefine the separation of interior and exterior through both a system of continuous internal ramps, generated by diagonal cuts in the facade, and a series of bends and folds that are set in motion by the rotating landings of each given stair.
